ITV has announced that popular crime drama Unforgotten has been recommissioned for a seventh series.
The news comes days a month after the most recent series launched, with overnight figures to date showing that the opening episode drew a peak of 7.4 million viewers.
The show, which follows detectives investigating unsolved murders from many decades ago, has also been a success on ITVX, where the new series has been streamed 18.3 million times to date and viewings of previous series have racked up 6.3 million streams so far in 2025.
Sanjeev Bhaskar and Sinead Keenan will reprise their roles as DI Sunil 'Sunny' Khan and DCI Jess James for series seven, while creator and exec producer Chris Lang will as usual pen all six episodes.
"I am so delighted to have been asked to create another series of Unforgotten, and given the opportunity once again to follow Sunny, Jess and their brilliant team, as they attempt to crack another cold case," said Lang.
"Unforgotten is a drama that has always asked its audience to lean in, concentrate, and engage with complex ideas, plots and themes, and we are profoundly grateful that such a large and loyal audience continue to enjoy doing exactly that. Roll on series 7!"
The new series is expected to air at some point in 2026.
