Torrey Smith defends Joe Flacco amid criticism

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith defends quarterback Joe Flacco amid criticism of his work ethic during the off-season.

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith has hit back at criticism of quarterback Joe Flacco.

Flacco has been criticised in the media for his lack of activity during the off-season to schedule workouts with his receiving corps, following the club's struggles on offense in the 2013 season.

Smith told the club's official website: "You all [in the media] keep talking about this and [criticising] Joe like he doesn't want to get together or something like that.

"We've been trying to figure it out, but people have to realise, [Kyle Juszczyk] is in school, Marlon [Brown] is in school. Steve [Smith] is still being a parent down there [in Carolina].

"[Dennis] Pitta is fine. Aaron [Mellette] isn't all the way back yet. If we really go out there and throw, it's going to be, Steve, Pitta and Jacoby [Jones]. That's it."

The Ravens' offense was ranked 29th in the NFL in the 2013 campaign.
