Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel has been ruled out for the rest of pre-season with a knee injury.
Manuel is believed to have suffered the injury during his side's 20-16 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Friday and will now undergo a "minor knee procedure".
The rookie quarterback is in competition with veteran Kevin Kolb for the starting jersey, and coach Doug Marrone confirmed that Kolb will replace Manuel in the side for their next pre-season match.
"EJ Manuel had some swelling in his left knee this morning and was examined by our medical staff," read a statement from Marrone.
"An MRI revealed that he will need to have a minor knee procedure and that has been scheduled. He will miss the remainder of the pre-season and then be re-evaluated at that time.
"Kevin Kolb will be our starting quarterback for this weekend's game at Washington."
Manuel was chosen as the 16th overall pick in this year's draft.
