Ryan Fitzpatrick believes that he should keep his role as starting quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.

Ryan Fitzpatrick has said that he would not be happy being a backup quarterback at the Buffalo Bills.

The 30-year-old faces an uncertain future following the firing of head coach Chan Gailey earlier this week.

The quarterback told Buffalo News: "For me personally, I think I want to play, that's just who I am.

"I think I'm a starter in this league and want to play. I'd hate to play the 'what if' game right now, I guess."

General manager Buddy Nix has previously stated that he may look to draft a quarterback.

The Bills finished last in the AFC East in the 2012 regular season, winning six of their 16 games.
