The Buffalo Bills have confirmed that cornerback Stephon Gilmore will be out for at least the first month of the regular season with a wrist injury.
The 22-year-old left the field during his side's pre-season game with the Washington Redskins following a collision.
Gilmore could miss five regular season games, but head coach Doug Marrone is hopeful that his injury will not keep him out of action for two months.
He told reporters: "We believe he'll be back sooner than eight weeks."
Buffalo open their regular season campaign against the New England Patriots and could also be without quarterbacks Kevin Kolb and EJ Manuel due to injury.
