Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley has said that the team will continue to negotiate a long-term contract with Jairus Byrd.
It was reported earlier this week that the team were not in discussions with the safety, who was placed under the Bills' franchise tag earlier this year.
Whaley told the team's official website: "We recognise that Jairus is a good player and we're in the business of collecting good players.
"We're going to continue the negotiation process, but we'll also continue to not negotiate in the press."
The 26-year-old made five interceptions for the AFC East side in 2012.
