Wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. had agreed to a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers.
The former San Francisco 49ers kick returner had been a free agent after reaching the end of his one-year deal with the Super Bowl finalists.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera told Sports World Report: "The interesting thing about Ted is he gives us some depth at wide receiver who can challenge for playing-time opportunity.
"But also, he's got special-teams value, which is big. He's an explosive guy coming off the line of scrimmage, too."
The 27-year-old made just two receptions in the 2012 season.
