Chicago Bears quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh has described Jay Cutler as "borderline football brilliant".
The quarterback has been working with Cavanaugh since the team appointed new head coach Marc Trestman at the start of the year.
The coach told the Chicago Tribune: "He's borderline football brilliant. I think he gets it. I think he knows the game. I think he knows offensive schemes. I think he knows defenses.
"I'm excited for him, and I think he's excited. In the short period of time we've been here, I've seen him embrace what we're trying to get done and want to be a big part of it."
Cutler is entering the final year of his current contract with the Bears.
