Chicago Bears' Jon Bostic unsure about appeal

Chicago Bears linebacker Jon Bostic is unsure whether or not he will appeal the $21,000 fine dished out to him for an illegal hit.

Chicago Bears linebacker Jon Bostic has revealed that he doesn't know whether he will appeal against his $21,000 (£13,500) fine for an illegal hit or not.

Bostic was slapped with the fine after his tackle on San Diego Chargers wide receiver Mike Willie was deemed to be illegal by the authorities, despite the on-field referees not flagging an offence when the incident took place.

However, the 22-year-old rookie admits that he doesn't know much about the appeal process so needs to look into it further before deciding on what to do.

"Right now, I don't even know the whole process. I'm new to the NFL. This is my first year, so I don't know how this process exactly works," ESPN quotes Bostic as saying.

"I've got to find out more about it and figure out exactly how everything is going to play out."

For the time being, Bostic is keen to make the most of his time on the field and hopes to help his team out during his debut season in the league.

"I've just got to go out there, play football and have fun. That's the main thing. That's what I'm here for. I play football to have fun. These guys have been around all week. I'm excited to get back to work against new faces," he added.

I'm just trying to get that stuff to carry over. I'm always trying to get the ball back. Getting the ball back for the offence at that position on the field would have been big but we didn't get the fumble. But it is big. You want to get the ball back to the offence."

The Chicago Bears will face the Oakland Raiders in their next pre-season match on Friday.
