Cincinnati Bengals running back Giovani Bernard has hailed his understanding with quarterback Andy Dalton following the team's 27-19 pre-season win over the Tennessee Titans.
Bernard, who scored a 22-yard touchdown in the game, said that Dalton did not need to specify that the ball was being thrown to him - he just "knew".
"We knew the ball was kind of coming to me with nobody saying it," Bernard told the club's official website. "I saw the linebacker pressed up. Once they called the play in the huddle, I knew it.
"I was kind of tapping him. You know in a situation like that the linebackers are usually late getting to a guy in the flat. It kind of worked out the way we planned it. I knew I could outrun him."
Bernard was the first running back picked in the 2013 draft.
