A Cam Newton touchdown has given the Carolina Panthers a 10-3 lead over the Cleveland Browns in their NFL meeting this evening.
The quarterback returned to action with the Panthers after sitting out last week with injuries from a car crash, and tried to get the hosts into the endzone with Mike Tolbert, but they had to settle for a Graham Gano field goal.
Johnny Manziel, who was shut out in his first start for the team last Sunday, made sure that his side got some points on the board, getting the team into field goal range so that Garrett Hartley could convert.
The Panthers got back into Cleveland territory on their next possession when Kelvin Benjamin picked up a big gain before Ed Dickson came up just short of the endzone.
Inside the final two minutes, Newton kept the ball himself, running it into the endzone from just two yards out to put the Panthers ahead at the break.
Manziel came back onto the field, but was injured while scrambling towards the sideline, forcing him into the locker room early.
