Norv Turner has said that Brian Hoyer will give the Cleveland Browns the best chance to secure a win today.
The AFC North side named the third-string quarterback as their starter for their game against the Minnesota Vikings, as Brandon Weeden is out with a thumb injury.
The offensive coordinator told the team's official website: "I think Brian, for where we are offensively, gives us the best chance [to win] That's something we spent a lot of time talking about. Brian did a lot of good things when he played in Chicago [during the pre-season], so we're going to give him the opportunity.
"Brian's excited about playing. It's an opportunity to go play and show what you're capable of doing. We've worked hard to put a plan together. We're going against a very good defensive front that's outstanding in the pass rush.
"We've got to handle crowd noise. We've got to handle pass sets when they're rushing the passer. It's a big challenge. He can make all the throws you need to make. He's actually a very good deep-ball thrower."
Hoyer, who grew up in Cleveland, joined the Browns during the off-season following his release from the Arizona Cardinals.
