Morris Claiborne still hoping for pre-season action

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne says that he hopes to play in the final game of the pre-season next week.

Morris Claiborne has said that he is still hopeful of playing in the Dallas Cowboys' final pre-season game.

The cornerback sustained a knee injury during training camp earlier this month, and has not played since the NFC East side beat the Miami Dolphins in the Hall of Fame game.

The 23-year-old told the team's website: "Everything is going good so far. Like I said we did some cutting and stuff, and we did some full speed running and stuff today, and I felt pretty good.

"I know it's a no-go for this week, but hopefully next week I'll be back out here. There ain't no doubt in my mind that I won't be playing [the regular season opener against the New York Giants], I know I will.

"I really wanted to see what it was going to do this week, and I tried to give it everything I got as far as cutting and planting, trying to come out driving. And everything went good. I'm just trying to do what I have to keep doing with the training staff, and hopefully next week I'll be back on the field."

The Cowboys play the Cincinnati Bengals tonight before facing the Houston Texans next week.
