Jason Garrett: 'Tony Romo making a lot of progress'

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett reveals that quarterback Tony Romo is making "a lot of progress" in his recovery from injury.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has revealed that quarterback Tony Romo is making "a lot of progress" in his recovery from injury.

Romo today participated in his first workout since undergoing a second operation on his back in the space of less than a year, and he is expected to be fit in time to take part in the full off-season programme.

Garrett is keen not to rush the 34-year-old back before he is fully fit, but revealed that he was "on target" with his recovery process.

"He was on the field for 45 minutes with the other guys, threw the ball, dropped back," Garrett told reporters.

"Like with any injured player, we're going to take the process slowly and cross those bridges we need to cross before we go further. But he's certainly on target. He's responded well to this and is making a lot of progress."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones recently gave a vote of confidence to Romo amidst speculation that he could choose a quarterback with his first-round Draft pick this month.
