Stephen Jones confident over long-term Dez Bryant deal

Dallas Cowboys executive vice-president Stephen Jones is optimistic that the club and Dez Bryant will be able to come to an agreement on a long-term contract.

Dallas Cowboys executive vice-president Stephen Jones is confident that the club will eventually come to a long-term deal with wide receiver Dez Bryant.

The NFC East side were unable to come to an agreement with the 26-year-old in the early stages of the off-season as the two parties could not find common ground over salary before they designated him with the franchise tag.

Jones believes that the unpredictability of the market surrounding young wideouts such as Bryant, Julio Jones and Demaryius Thomas is making life difficult for their respective teams to tie them down to long-term contracts.

He told reporters: "I think a lot people want to naturally assume it's a Dez Bryant-Cowboy issue. I think it's a bigger issue than that right now. There's three or four young receivers in this league other than Dez that are going to be looking for long-term contracts.

"No-one has been able to really figure out what they think the market should be. I think ultimately we'll get this done.

"No-one wants to have Dez long term involved with the Dallas Cowboys more so than our organisation, Jerry and myself. Our goal is to get it done, get it done long term, so we can move forward and let Dez continue to make all the great plays he's made up until this point."

Bryant recorded 88 receptions for 1,320 yards along with 16 touchdowns for the Cowboys last season.
