Green Bay Packers thrash Philadelphia Eagles

The Green Bay Packers cruise to a 53-20 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, scoring seven touchdowns at Lambeau Field.

The Green Bay Packers have cruised to a 53-20 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles for their sixth win in their last seven outings in the NFL.

Jordy Nelson missed the chance to score a touchdown in the opening possession of the game when Aaron Rodgers looked for the wide receiver with a deep pass, but Mason Crosby split the posts with a field goal in snowy conditions at Lambeau Field to add the first points of the game.

Rookie receiver Davante Adams did find the endzone before the end of the first quarter, running after the catch to take the ball in for the opening touchdown.

Mark Sanchez was unable to find his rhythm with the Philadelphia offense, leaving the Eagles to punt their first two possessions back to the Packers, but Micah Hyde ran the second back for a 75-yard touchdown.

Green Bay extended their lead further when Nelson made amends for his earlier drop, collecting a short ball from the quarterback before squeezing into the corner.

Eddie Lacy added the hosts' fourth touchdown of the first half when he powered over from a yard out just before half time.

Rookie kicker Cody Parkey scored the only points of the first half for the visitors, kicking two field goals in the second quarter.

The Eagles continued to struggle after the break when LeSean McCoy lost the ball on a promising-looking drive, but Randall Cobb could not make the catch for a fifth Packers touchdown.

The Packers defense ensured that they added to the score again before the end of the third quarter though, as Sanchez was intercepted by Julius Peppers, who returned it 52 yards for a touchdown, although the extra point kick was blocked.

The Eagles finally found the endzone for the first time when Jordan Matthews gathered a pass from Sanchez before running over.

The NFC North side soon restored their advantage though as Rodgers found Lacy, who then spun off three tackles to run from midfield for his second touchdown of the day.

The Packers defense continued to cause problems for the Eagles quarterback though as a mix up between Sanchez and center Jason Kelce saw the ball come loose, and Casey Hayward picked it up before running it back for Green Bay's second defensive touchdown of the day.

Sanchez recovered to add a consolation touchdown late on, with Jeremy Maclin taking it in for the visitors, but it was not enough for the Eagles to avoid a heavy defeat.

The result leaves both sides with 7-3 records this season, with the Eagles staying top in the NFC East, while the Packers remain second in the NFC North.
