Green Bay Packers still hopeful of Randall Cobb deal

Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson insists that the franchise is still hopeful of signing a new deal with Randall Cobb.

Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson has revealed that the franchise is still hopeful of being able to agree a new deal with Randall Cobb.

Coach Mike McCarthy insisted that Cobb was a vital part of his plans when speaking at the NFL scouting combine on Thursday, and Thompson insists they are trying.

"We're working on several different levels with several different people," Thompson said, NFL.com reports.

"We say the same thing every year, we mean it. It's not a secret that we try to keep and maintain our own guys as much as possible. We feel like that's a good investment for the organization. We feel like, especially, if we have good people like we do, we'd like to do that. We're trying to do that with Randall."

Thompson went through a similar situation last year with cornerback Sam Shields, and will be hopeful of agreeing a deal before the free agency market opens.
