The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded quarterback Blaine Gabbert to the San Francisco 49ers in return for a sixth-round Draft pick.
Gabbert was selected in the first round with the 10th overall pick of the 2011 Draft, but injuries and a lack of form contributed to him not living up to expectations in Jacksonville.
The 24-year-old won the starting job last season but only managed three games for the team after an injury allowed Chad Henne to step in and become the first-choice quarterback.
Gabbert enjoyed his best season in his rookie year when he made 15 appearances and threw for 2,214 yards with 12 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
He will now look to rediscover that form in San Francisco having moved to the NFC West outfit.
The Jaguars also announced that they have re-signed cornerback Will Blackmon on a two-year deal after he entered free agency today.
