Half-Time Report: Miami Dolphins hold advantage in New York

Two field goals from Caleb Sturgis hand the Miami Dolphins the lead at the break in their NFL clash with the New York Jets.

The Dolphins started the half with a good drive through the arm of Ryan Tannehill but this was ended as he entered Jets territory and Quinton Coples brought him down for a sack to kill their momentum.

New York suffered similar struggles on offense as Geno Smith could not move the ball downfield and was brought down on third and nine in his own half by Olivier Vernon and forced them to punt.

Miami had an excellent chance to take the lead as Tannehill led his team downfield and found Charles Clay for nine yards to move his side to the one-yard line, but Lamar Miller was stuffed on third down.

However, instead of going for the field, the Dolphins went for it and they could not make the play as Tannehill's pass fell incomplete looking for Brian Hartline allowing the Jets to take over at the one.

Despite this setback, the Dolphins took a six-point lead into the half as kicker Caleb Sturgis first fired a 34-yarder through the posts and then the visitors took advantage of an interception from Geno Smith for Sturgis to put a 43-yard effort through.
