Report: Jonathan Martin didn't alert Miami Dolphins about abuse

Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin did not alert head coach Joe Philbin to the growing problems between him and teammate Richie Incognito, according to reports.

Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Jonathan Martin did not report instances of alleged player harassment to head coach Joe Philbin, according to reports.

Martin claims to be the victim of racial abuse and physical threats towards himself and his family by teammate Richie Incognito, who has been suspended indefinitely by the Dolphins.

The situation is currently being investigated by the NFL, and one factor that the league and the NFL Players Association are keen to determine is whether Martin reached out to the coaching staff at the Dolphins for help before leaving the team last week.

Philbin took responsibility for the atmosphere at the team, but the coach was unaware of the unfolding circumstances, according to ESPN.

The Dolphins did not place Martin on the non-football injury list on Tuesday, meaning that he will remain on the active roster despite his continued absence from the team.
