Leslie Frazier has said that he did not consider benching Christian Ponder on Sunday, despite the Minnesota Vikings quarterback going almost 39 minutes without completing a pass.

The 24-year-old threw two interceptions in the game against the Green Bay Packers, allowing their NFC North rivals to come from behind to beat them.

The Vikings coach said: "It hasn't come up anytime this season where I thought we needed to pull him out of a game. That hasn't occurred.

"I've thought about that a lot because when you're struggling at a position, the guys know how we talked about everybody doing their jobs and why it's important for us to have our success.

"We believe that Christian is our number one. That being said, if things get to a point where your number one is really costing you some situations that could preclude winning, you do have to do what's best for the football team."

Ponder completed 12 out of 25 passes against the Packers for 119 yards with one touchdown.
