Bill Belichick pleased with Tim Wright debut

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick admits that he was happy with what he saw from tight end Tim Wright on his debut for the club.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has revealed that he was pleased with tight end Tim Wright's debut for his side in their pre-season defeat to the New York Giants.

The 24-year-old moved to the Patriots on Tuesday in a trade deal from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that saw veteran guard Logan Mankins move in the opposite direction.

Belichick told reporters: "I think the big thing for Tim last night was just the opportunity to be in our system and play in our system.

"So there are things that happened during the game on the field, on the sidelines, substitutions, on the bench in between series, the communication, all those things. He heard the snap count. He heard the quarterback audible.

"He heard adjustments being made on the sideline, all those things, which are part of the game. He only knew a handful of plays, but overall I thought he handled the situation pretty well."

The Patriots open their 2014 campaign next week against the Miami Dolphins.
