Report: New York Giants Jason Pierre-Paul could miss start of 2015 season

A report suggests that New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul could miss the start of the season after suffering a hand injury while attempting to light fireworks.

The New York Giants are fearful that defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul could miss the start of the 2015 season after injuring his hand in a fireworks accident, according to a report.

The 26-year-old suffered injuries when he attempted to light fireworks as part of July 4 celebrations, which forced him into hospital for treatment.

Pierre-Paul's injuries have been deemed severe enough that the club are anxious that he could be ruled out of their training camp and the start of the 2015 season, reports ESPN.

The Giants are still gathering further information from their doctors to determine the precise length of his absence from team activities.

Pierre-Paul has recorded 286 tackles, 42 sacks and two interceptions in his five-year NFL career.
