New York Giants duo Victor Cruz and David Baas both suffered injuries during their side's 20-12 loss to the Indianapolis Colts last night.
Cruz, who has recently signed a new contract with the Giants, left the field early with a bruised heel, while Baas joined him in the dressing room shortly afterwards with a suspected sprained knee.
Coach Tom Coughlin admitted that he does not know too much about the injuries yet, but hopes that Cruz in particular can return sooner rather than later.
"[Cruz] jammed his heel and was sore," Coughlin told reporters after the match.
"He runs to make a living and he's obviously got an issue with the heel. Hopefully it is not going to be a long thing."
Meanwhile, Jim Cordle, who replaced Baas following his injury, hopes that the centre being able to walk off the field himself means that the problem is not too serious.
"He stood up and walked off, so hopefully it's not too bad," he told reporters.
The New York Giants will play the New York Jets and New England Patriots before their regular season gets underway at the Dallas Cowboys on September 8.
