New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has rubbished accusations that his side faked injuries to slow down their match against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Linebacker Dan Connor and defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins both went down on consecutive plays during a long Cowboys drive, leading the Dallas owner Jerry Jones to accuse the Giants of feigning injury.
However, Coughlin insists that both players were genuinely hurt and pointed to the fact that Connor was unable to return to the match as proof of that.
"It's absolutely not true. Both of those players were injured," Coughlin told reporters.
"Connor never returned to the game and Cullen was in a position where he needed to regroup. So that wasn't orchestrated at all."
The Cowboys went on to win the game 36-31, with the drive in question ending with a touchdown pass from Tony Romo to Jason Witten.
