Ed Reed unsure of New York Jets role

New York Jets safety Ed Reed admits that he does not know how he will fit into the team's lineup.

Ed Reed has admitted that he does not know what his role will be with the New York Jets.

The safety signed with the AFC East side yesterday, having been released by the Houston Texans earlier this week.

The 35-year-old told reporters: "I don't know what it's going to be. I'll let Coach be the judge of that. They had a good thing going here before I came. I don't plan on rocking the boat.

"I don't plan on being different than who I am, but if Coach wants me to start then I'll start, if he wants me to play on sub, dime, whatever it may be, I'm going to do that. If he wants me to rush kicks, if he wants me to run on kickoff, I'll do that. I'm here to help the team win.

"Do I want to start? Yeah. But I have confidence in what these guys have already been doing. I'm not coming in like, 'Hey, it's me!' I'm not coming in like that. I'm coming in like, 'Hey, I'm here to help in any way I can'. This is Coach's team, this is Rex [Ryan]'s team, and I know everybody trusts the fact that he's going to make the right decision for us to be successful."

Reed, who joined the Texans as a free agent during the off-season, made 14 tackles in seven appearances this season.
