New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has revealed that his side won't target former player Darrelle Revis when they face him in their season opener.
Revis was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in April and is expected to play his first game for Greg Schiano's team against his old club on Sunday. It will be his first match since October last year after he injured his ACL.
"That might be some teams, but I don't think that's going to be our philosophy," Ryan told Newsday. "I can't even lie and say, 'Oh, yeah, no, absolutely we're attacking him'.
"I don't see that happening. We know what kind of talent he is. All Jets fans know what kind of talent he has. If I had my way, he would rest one more week."
Ryan announced that rookie quarterback Geno Smith will start against the Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
