The New York Jets will keep pass rusher Quinton Coples for another season, according to reports.
The 24-year-old has been criticised for his indifferent form over the past few years, but head coach Todd Bowles said that he sees a lot of ability in the player.
He told reporters: "You see potential. He's a lot like [quarterback] Geno [Smith]. You see him make plays and then you see him do other things at times. He can make strides this year and become a better player."
The York Daily News says that the Jets will exercise an option to extend his contract until 2016.
Coples made 26 tackles and 6.5 sacks last season.
