The head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, John Wooten, has expressed his belief that the league will choose to enforce a rule that would see players punished for saying the N-word on the field.
The proposed change would see a player handed a 15-yard penalty for a first-time infringement of the rule and an ejection for a second, something that Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark believes would be hard to police.
However, Wooten is confident that it will be agreed upon by the NFL's competition committee when they meet next month before presenting it to the team owners ahead of the 2014 season.
"I will be totally shocked if the competition committee does not uphold us on what we're trying to do. We want this word to be policed from the parking lot to the equipment room to the locker room," Wooten told CBS Sports.
"Secretaries, PR people, whoever, we want it eliminated completely and want it policed everywhere. I think they're going to do what needs to be done here. There is too much disrespect in the game."
