The Philadelphia Eagles have released former first-round pick Danny Watkins as part of their roster cut down.
The Eagles selected the offensive lineman 23rd overall in the 2011 draft out of Baylor.
The 28-year-old struggled during his first two seasons in the NFL in pass protection and fell down the depth chart during the off-season under Chip Kelly, leading to his release this afternoon.
Philadelphia face the Washington Redskins in their regular season opener on September 9.
