Philip Rivers has insisted that there is "no doubt" that he will be ready to face the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL this weekend.
The San Diego Chargers quarterback has missed practice for the last two days with a back problem, with some reports claiming that the injury is worse than the team have previously suggested.
The 33-year-old told ESPN: "At this point in the week I think there's no doubt. I hate not practising. But I think at some point you have to do what's best for me and the team. And practising today wouldn't have been beneficial to moving toward Saturday."
Rivers has played through various injuries during his career, including a torn ACL during the AFC Championship game in the 2007 season.
