Philip Rivers hails Frank Reich appointment

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers hails the appointment of Frank Reich as the team's new offensive coordinator.

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has hailed the appointment of Frank Reich as the team's new offensive coordinator.

Reich was previously the Chargers' quarterback coach before replacing Ken Whisenhunt, helping Rivers to one of the most successful seasons in his 10-year career.

Reich was a quarterback himself in his playing days, and Rivers believes that such experience lends itself well to the job.

"He is a heck of a coach. His steadiness from week to week, the way he helps prepare us and coaches is second to none. His playing career obviously helps and his preparation," Rivers told reporters.

Reich has only been with the Chargers for one season, joining the team for the 2013 campaign having been fired by the Arizona Cardinals.
