Darrell Bevell: 'Russell Wilson is changing the game'

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell feels that Russell Wilson's success in the NFL is changing the way quarterbacks are being evaluated in the game.

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell has claimed that Russell Wilson is changing the way people view quarterbacks in the NFL as well as the college game.

The 26-year-old was written off as being too small to play the signal-caller position in the NFL at 5ft 10in by some scouts, but the Seahawks decided to select Wilson in the third round of the 2012 Draft.

The quarterback has shone in the league with his playmaking ability, throwing and running the ball to become one of the best in his position in the NFL.

Bevell told reporters: "I think he is changing the conversation about it. When a lot of people looked at it before, they just looked at that number, 5ft 10in and that knocked him down, including us.

"We took him in the third round, which we felt like we were kind of pushing the envelope to get him there. So now it has started to change because of how he plays. He is the winningest quarterback at this time in his career.

"It's definitely going to change how people look at the position. There are still going to be traditionalists who look for certain things, but really you are looking for a guy who can win games."

Wilson is aiming to win his second Super Bowl when the Seahawks play the New England Patriots later today.
