Former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy has revealed that he wouldn't have picked Michael Sam in the 2014 Draft.
Sam became the first openly gay player in the NFL when the St Louis Rams selected him in the seventh round of the Draft in May.
However, Dungy has admitted that he wouldn't have selected the 24-year-old because of the hassle and the attention of having Sam on his team.
"I wouldn't have taken him," Dungy told the Tampa Tribune. "Not because I don't believe Michael Sam should have a chance to play, but I wouldn't want to deal with all of it.
"It's not going to be totally smooth... things will happen."
Sam recorded 111 tackles, 18.5 sacks and two interceptions in his four years with the Missouri Tigers.
