Roger Goodell: 'More cities could host Super Bowl'

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says that he would like to see more cities hosting the Super Bowl.

Roger Goodell has said that he would like to see more cities involved in hosting the Super Bowl.

For the first time in the game's history, the NFL showpiece is taking place in East Rutherford in New Jersey at the New York Giants and the New York Jets' MetLife Stadium, despite concerns that cold weather could interfere with the game.

The league's commissioner told reporters: "We know there's interest in other communities hosting the Super Bowl. I think the ownership will sit back and review that when we're done, but we have a very aggressive process in how we select cities.

"The infrastructure is very important. There are over 30,000 hotel rooms needed even to host the Super Bowl so there are some communities that may not be able to do it from an infrastructure standpoint, but we know the passion's there.

"I believe we need to get to as many communities as possible and give them the opportunity to share in not only the emotional benefits but also the economic benefits. It helps the NFL, it helps our fans and it helps grow our game."

The Denver Broncos face the Seattle Seahawks in this season's Super Bowl later today.
