Alterraun Verner: 'No grudge against Tennessee Titans'

Tennessee Titans cornerback Alterraun Verner insists that he wouldn't hold a grudge against the team if they choose not to re-sign him next season.

Tennessee Titans cornerback Alterraun Verner has insisted that he would not hold a grudge against the team if they choose not to re-sign him next season.

Verner is currently due to become a free agent on March 11 and is yet to be offered a multi-year deal by the Titans after they opted against using their franchise tag on him.

The 25-year-old is confident that the team would like to keep him, but understands that they have a number of other issues to consider, including the salary cap.

"I know deep down the organisation likes me, but they've already done a lot of other things up to this point that makes it hard for them to get me. And from a team standpoint, I feel like we are a couple of pieces away," Verner told The Tennessean.

"So them not offering me is not them saying they don't think I am a good player or they don't want me, they just might need to focus on somebody else. If I didn't come back, I wouldn't hold a grudge.

"I am open to anything. I am not saying I am fully anticipating going into free agency no matter what Tennessee does. I am not saying I really hope Tennessee comes through. I am just waiting to see what happens."

Verner was the only Titans player voted to the Pro Bowl last season.
