Report: Tennessee Titans won't tag Alterraun Verner

The Tennessee Titans will reportedly look to re-sign cornerback Alterraun Verner without using their franchise tag.

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly decided against using their franchise tag on Alterraun Verner.

The cornerback, who made 57 tackles and five interceptions in 2013, is due to become a free agent next month, while teams can start using their franchise tags from Monday.

The Tennessean reports that the Titans have no plans to use their tag on the 25-year-old, but are hoping to agree a new contract with Verner for the 2014 NFL season.

The 25-year-old was selected for the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career as a result of his 2013 performances.
