Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden has hinted at the possibility that Kirk Cousins could become the starting quarterback on the team.
Cousins replaced the injured Robert Griffin III in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and it is widely reported that he is better suited to Gruden's offense.
"Crazy things have happened in NFL. I'm not going to discount anything," Gruden said in response to being asked if Cousins could permanently replace Griffin.
It is in stark contract to Gruden's declarations back in August, in which he insisted that Griffin holds "the keys to the franchise" in his hands.
However, the 24-year-old has continued to struggle with injuries after suffering a dislocated ankle which opened the door for Cousins to replace him.
