Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan insists that is happy with Robert Griffin III's attitude despite the quarterback saying that he didn't like his training schedule.

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has insisted that he is happy with quarterback Robert Griffin III's attitude as he continues his recovery from injury.

Griffin has publicly stated that he doesn't like the training schedule that Shanahan has designed for him as he continues to be excluded from full training.

However, Shanahan is determined not to take any unnecessary risks with his star asset and believes that Griffin's desire to return to full training can only be a good thing.

"My job is to make sure he's ready. I could [have brought] Robert back three weeks ago and something happens to the ACL and we're saying maybe you should have waited an extra week or two. I know when the first game is," ESPN quotes Shanahan as saying.

"I like competitors. I like people that want to go. The great ones want to practice, they want to play. Robert does petition you guys. I like it. It's good.

"I don't want to push him when we don't have to. I like where he's at, he's making strides."

Griffin is expected to be fully fit in time for the Redskins' opening match of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 9.
