Melvin Gordon to forego senior year and enter 2015 Draft

Wisconsin Badgers running back Melvin Gordon states his intention to play professional football next season.

Wisconsin Badgers running back Melvin Gordon has announced that he intends to forego his senior year at college and enter the 2015 NFL Draft.

Speaking to Dan Patrick's daily radio show, Gordon stated that he will be going pro once the Badgers have played their New Year's Day Outback Bowl game against Auburn Tigers.

Gordon has proved to be an exceptional talent, being named as a Heisman Trophy finalist having set a Big Ten single-season record for 2,336 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns.

The rusher said: "Since I was little I'd like to play for the Packers, but obviously that's not going to happen.

"Those guys that go to the Super Bowl have good running backs on their team, I want to be that guy."

Last month, the 21-year-old briefly set a NCAA single-game rushing record with 408 yards, although this was broken shortly afterwards by Oklahoma Sooners running back Samaje Perine.
