David Weir: "It feels amazing"

Team England's David Weir reveals his delight after winning gold in the men's 1,500 T54 final at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Team England's David Weir has revealed his delight after winning gold in the men's 1,500 T54 final at the Commonwealth Games on Thursday.

The Paralympic gold medallist secured first place with a time of 3:21.67, before speaking to Sports Mole about his feelings.

"It feels amazing, just the best feeling to put on an England vest and go out there and come away with a gold medal. That is what made me not retire after 2012," said Weir.

Weir was also questioned on whether representing England was more important than turning out for Team GB at the Olympics.

"London was special because I am from London, but it is a different feeling. It is just amazing, a patriotic feeling, but I loved putting the GB vest on just as much," he added.

"I have done everything now, but that doesn't mean I will retire. At least I can retire in a few years and say that I have done everything.

"You will know when it is time to pack it in. I am really enjoying everything at the moment, that is what is making me go to training with all these guys."

Weir led from the onset before cruising to victory.
