Police have arrested a man for throwing a bottle and hurling abuse just seconds before the men's 100m final at the Olympic Stadium last night.
The incident was captured by television cameras just before the Olympic finalists began their race, which world-record holder Usain Bolt clinched in 9.63 seconds.
A Metropolitan police spokesman said: "The man had been heard to shout abuse and then throw a plastic bottle on to the track immediately prior to the start of the men's 100m final.
"He remains in custody at an east London police station. No one was injured during the incident and the event was not interfered with in any way."
While Bolt blasted to victory, his Jamaican teammate Yohan Blake claimed silver, while the USA's Justin Gatlin edged compatriot Tyson Gay to bronze.
