Tyson Gay predicts British teenager Adam Gemili to dominate the future of sprinting following his record-breaking run at the world junior championships.

American Tyson Gay has tipped British sprinter Adam Gemili to become 'one of the greatest of all time' following his record-breaking win in the world junior championships.

The 18-year-old clocked a personal best time of 10.05 seconds in Barcelona on Wednesday night, which was also a championship record.

Gay, who will represent the USA in the upcoming Olympic Games, now believes that Gemili will be at the top of the sport for a number of years.

"At 18, that's quite impressive," he said. "I think he's going to be around for a while, I think he's going to be one of the greatest sprinters of all time, watching that race. He done it at the big show and that's where it counts.

"He has to keep what he's doing, keep listening to his coach, don't change nothing. Don't listen to all the hype. Just carry on with what you're doing.

"For this next four years I don't think people should look for him to break the world record but for him to maintain and get better."

Gemili has been selected for the 100m and 4x100m events at this summer's London Games.
