Team GB take men's 4x400m relay gold at European Championships

Martyn Rooney guides Team GB to their eighth gold of the 2014 European Championships in the men's 4x400m relay in Zurich.

Great Britain have won gold in the men's 4x400m relay at the European Championships this afternoon.

The team, consisting of Conrad Williams, Matthew Hudson-Smith, Michael Bingham and Martyn Rooney, ran to victory in a time of 2:58.79 in Zurich.

It ensures that Team GB continue their impressive record in the event, which has now seen them claim a medal at every championships since 1978.

Great Britain have won eight gold medals at this year's competition, and are now just one behind their record tally.
