A range of celebrities, politicians and sportsmen took to Twitter to share their delight on a momentous day for Great Britain.
Team GB claimed six gold medals on Saturday, including three in a superb night of athletics at the Olympic Stadium.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson was delighted for the nation, tweeting: "Forget about Super Saturday, this was Spectacular Saturday! What a night! So so proud."
Manchester United and England footballer Rio Ferdinand was also impressed with the athletes exploits, tweeting: "Has British athletics ever seen a better night than this?? I doubt it very much. Rutherford take a bow fella, huge from ya!"
Olympic gold medal decathlete Daley Thompson tweeted: What a night, Team GB awesome. We have to have an Olympics every year!! This makes £9b look cheap and unbelievably good value."
Jessica Ennis, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah were in inspired form to keep Team GB in third in the overall medal table.
