America's Tyson Gay progressed to the semi-finals of the men's 100m by winning heat one inside the Olympic Stadium in London this afternoon.
The 29-year-old, who has recently recovered from a groin injury, got off to a slow start out of the blocks.
However, he accelerated out from the 50m point and moved to the front of the field, clocking a time of 10.08s as he crossed the line.
Trinidad's Richard Thompson finished second, while the final qualifying slot went to Gerald Phiri in third spot.
