The NBA today announced that it would stage its first ever game in Africa later this year.
Johannesburg's Ellis Park will host an exhibition game between Team Africa and Team World on August 1.
South Sudan-born Luol Deng of the Miami Heat, who represents Great Britain at international level, will captain Team Africa, while Los Angeles Clippers point-guard Chris Paul will skipper the World team.
Deng said in a statement: "I am extremely proud to be a part of the NBA's first game in Africa. Coming from South Sudan and having participated in the Basketball without Borders Africa camps in Johannesburg previously, I am truly honoured to be part of this historic event."
The NBA said that over 35 players from Africa have played in its teams and that the match would benefit a number of South African charities, including the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
