The NBA has suspended Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside for one game without pay following an altercation with Kelly Olynyk on Monday night.
Whiteside reacted to contact from Olynyk by striking him in the neck with his forearm, and the officials ejected him from the game, which the Boston Celtics eventually won 100-90.
"I feel terrible about it. I feel like I let my teammates down," the 25-year-old told reporters after a practice session on Tuesday. "It can't happen again. I just want to apologize to everybody."
Whiteside will sit out Wednesday's home game against the Brooklyn Nets as Miami continue their bid to clinch a spot in the playoffs.
