Ricky Rubio recorded a triple-double as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Los Angeles Lakers 113-90 at the Staples Center on Sunday night.
Point guard Rubio had 12 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who claimed their first victory over the Lakers since March 2007 to end a 22-game losing streak against the opponents.
The visitors scored 47 points in the first quarter to build an early 24-point lead and despite winning the next two quarters, the Lakers were unable to produce a comeback.
Kevin Martin scored 27 points, while Kevin Love added 25 more as all five starters passed double figures for the Timberwolves.
The Lakers were dealt another blow on a frustrating evening as Steve Nash was restricted to just 12 minutes on the court due to a back injury.
