The Chinese Basketball Association has announced restrictions for NBA stars wishing to play there during the lockout.

The Chinese Basketball Association has reportedly restricted which US players can join the league in the event of the NBA lockout continuing.

Players under contract would be barred from entering the Chinese league, but current free agents would be allowed to compete, according to state media.

Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade has previously expressed his desire to play in China if the lockout continues, but under the reported restrictions he would not be allowed.

Xinhua News also reports that players would be required to play a full season in China, even if the NBA lockout comes to an end.

"We welcome free-agent players of the NBA to play at least a full season in the CBA," CBA director Bai Xilin is quoted as saying.

The Chinese Basketball Association season starts on Sunday, November 20.
